Three Places to Promote Your Funeral Business

Every company must do some type of promoting. This is how  people learn about your company, in turn equaling more business. You may be wondering what is the best way to promote your funeral homes.  This is through advertisement. You may just have to put a little more effort into it because not everyone is looking for funeral services and they might be a little less interested in that compared to other business. That's okay though. Here are three easy ways to promote your business.

Social Media

The number one way to promote and advertise now  days is through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. These sites get millions of visitors in just a single day. Imagine the number in a month. However due to the amount of visitors there is even more post daily. Therefore, it is important to keep up with the number of daily posts. With Facebook the suggested number of posts per week is at least five if not more than that. Twitter is a little higher with one a day, and Instagram is even higher than that with several times a day. This may seem like a lot and it is but it is worth it as this is our number one resource, we must use it to our full advantage.

Radio Advertising

The average person commutes 45 minutes to and from work daily. Multiply this by the millions who listen to the radio while in the car and you will be able to see why this is the second best way to promote your company. However unlike television or social media, when broadcasting on the radio potential leads has no visual interest. Therefore, it is important to be very descriptive when recording your message. It can be hard in the 60 seconds you have. But this is a must. Talk about the services you provide for the funeral planning along with the personalization or items such as prayer cards, tributes, and memorial programs. Give listeners an idea of what you offer through mental pictures.

Partner With Companies

As horrible as it may sound, on of the main ways to promote a funeral business is to partner with companies that have to deal with funerals every day. Some of these places include, but is not limited to, nursing homes and hospitals. People in these two professions deal with death on a daily basis. Therefore, grieving families may ask for suggestions on places to host the funeral. This is where they mention your company. Consider making some flyers and business cards to leave with them. That way they can give your information to families easily.

These are just a few suggestions to get you started in a new promotion direction. If you chose to use any or all of this, one thing to keep in mind is consistency. In order to stay present in someone's mind you must stay consistent with all your efforts.

What to Include in a Memorial Service

A memorial service is a chance for the family and friends that are left behind to grieve and say goodbye. However, they need to respect the wishes of the one who passed away as well as honor the life they lived no matter how short or long. When trying to decide what to include in your memorial service you need to discuss it with the entire immediate family. You don't want anyone to feel left out during the process and them not feel like they got to pay their last respects how they wanted.

Officiant or Master of Ceremonies
In most circumstances the person who takes on this task is the religious leader or funeral director. However, if you are having an informal service this could be a close family member or friend. The Master of Ceremonies handles several different tasks including writing the eulogy. Make sure you provide whoever conducts the service personal information about your loved one so they can make it personalized and meaningful. Even if you have someone to speak at the service, give everyone an opportunity to speak or tell a story about the person who passed away. This helps everyone work through the grieving process and remember how the person was before they passed. Make sure you tell the person performing the service you want this included.
Memorial tribute or cards
These are the perfect handout for everyone to take home when visiting the service. These cards and tributes normally include  the deceased's information, photographs, and information about the service. They can also include inspirational quotes, poems, or scripture of choice. They also can include information about surviving relatives as well and anything else you feel visitors should know. This is a personalized memoir that people will keep forever to remember their passed loved one.
Decorations and music
Memorial services can often feel depressing and uninviting. Therefore to make everyone feel at ease and comfortable knowing the passed is in a better place, add some decorations and personal touches. If the deceased loved bright color incorporate that. Anything to give a touch of their presence. These decorations can be flowers, pictures and even candles. Also consider having a gallery area featuring pictures of their life for people to look at and remember. You can also ask friends and family if they have any pictures or decoration idea so they don't feel left out. Another thing to make people more at ease and free to talk is music. By playing music in the background you break the silence, making people feel more relaxed.
Planning a memorial service can be tiring, especially after the death of your loved one. Don't try to do it all on your own. Recruit the help from your friends as well as relatives. Give everyone a different responsibility if you would like or you all can tackle the task as a team. However you chose to handle it, just remember it gets easier with help.
